Today, Mike Swinford, CEO of Numotion released the following statement:

“On March 26, 2015, a break-in occurred at the Numotion office in Tacoma, WA and several pieces of equipment, including laptop computers, were stolen. We immediately reported the break-in to local police and they have since been working to identify the responsible individuals and recover the stolen equipment. Out of an obvious concern for customer privacy, we also commenced efforts to remotely erase the stolen laptops.

During the course of a very thorough investigation, we determined that the stolen laptops contained copies of quotes and service records with limited customer information including names, addresses, phone numbers, and equipment serial numbers. Some of these documents may also have contained a date of birth, insurance policy number, or diagnosis code.

We do not believe any financial information or social security numbers were saved on the stolen laptops. Additionally, because the other items stolen during the break-in included service tool sets and cash, we have no indication that the stolen laptops were accessed or that the perpetrators were attempting to obtain customer information. However, out of an abundance of caution, we are contacting affected customers and offering one year of credit monitoring and reporting services at no cost.

All of us at Numotion sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern this incident may have caused.  We take the privacy of our customers' personal and health information very seriously and will continue to take strong measures to protect this information in the future. We have also improved the physical security of our Tacoma location and have added state-of-the-art data encryption to our computer systems.

Affected customers will receive a letter with additional information on how to activate the credit monitoring and reporting service through Experian®. Individuals who do not receive a letter, but think they may be affected may either contact Experian® by calling 866-751-1324, quoting the following Engagement #PC94729 or by writing to us at Numotion Privacy – Security, 1111 Cromwell Ave., Suite 601, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.  You can also email us at privacy.security@numotion.com.”
