In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Numotion employees stepped forward in remarkable ways to support both coworkers and their communities. With determination and compassion, these team members helped alleviate the hardships faced by those impacted by the storms. Here are just a few stories of the exceptional work they did to make a difference.
Zach, Director of Operations Fulfillment, responded to urgent calls for help from affected colleagues. For one team member with a sick family member in Baxley, Georgia, Zach personally loaded his vehicle with nonperishables, water, gas, and a generator and drove over 700 miles through road closures to deliver these vital supplies. When another colleague was left without power during Hurricane Milton, Zach donated his own personal generator and gas, ensuring his coworker had power through the outage. “Growing up, helping others in tough times was a given,” Zach shared. “I may not be able to help everyone, but I try to do what I can.”
Meanwhile, Rick, Director of Operations Fulfillment tackled relief efforts during Hurricane Helene’s aftermath in Eastern Tennessee, where he helped a young family access essentials like diapers, formula, and food. He even enlisted a local mom’s help in the grocery store to pick out the right baby supplies! His journey through Knoxville and Johnson City showed him a region touched by community resilience, with people coming together to support those in need. “It’s what we’re supposed to do as humans—take care of each other,” said Rick.
Lauren, Human Resources Generalist with years of Disaster Relief and Recovery experience, joined efforts by reaching out to check on the well-being of Shared Services employees. Knowing that contact was essential, Lauren ensured each person’s safety and power status was accounted for. “I was glad I could put my experience to use for our employees in such a difficult time,” Lauren shared. “Each person was grateful that Numotion checked on them—it showed our commitment to one another.”
One of the most expansive efforts came from James, Rehab Technology Supplier who volunteered with search-and-rescue teams to reach families stranded by flooding, landslides, and debris. His work included wellness checks for those unable to contact loved ones, and he helped coordinate supplies for employees in need. James even used social media to raise over $3,000, which he spent on essential supplies for distribution throughout his community. His efforts went beyond immediate rescue; James organized a community relief site providing essentials like food, medical supplies, and hygiene items and helped local radio stations broadcast safe routes and conditions in affected areas. “Helping my community is personal to me,” James said. “I have to help others when I have the ability and resources to do so.”
