Hello Friends! Welcome to my blog A Nu You: Maximizing Life with a Disability. Whether you were born with your disability or acquired it at some point in your life, this is for YOU. Whether you’re male or female, have had your disability six months or 60 years, are young or old, fully independent or totally dependent, this blog is for YOU. If you’ve only had your disability for a few months, there will be a lot of new information to absorb and integrate into your life. Others may view this information and be reminded of what you are capable of creating in living your life to the fullest with a disability. My aim is to jumpstart your life personally and/or professionally. Everyone deserves to be happy and live life to the fullest.

As you read this, you may be thinking this is “motivational” or “inspirational,” which is fantastic. But I also know motivation and inspiration can be fleeting. Where you will see the best results in reading each blog is to put what I am sharing INTO ACTION. It’s been said “nothing happens until something moves.” To me that means ACTION. How many times have you had a thought, vision, goal or dream? Repeatedly I am sure. Now think about a belief you had in turning that into a reality. Very strong I bet, especially in the beginning when it first came to mind. Unfortunately for most of us, that’s where our thoughts, visions, goals and dreams end. We fail to take ACTION to make it happen. I will spend a lot of time discussing these mental “blocks” that constantly surface and how to plow through them.

During this journey, we’ll explore a variety of disability issues, including:
  • Making positive change while leveraging fear
  • Making peace with the past
  • Eating healthy
  • Exercise and Fitness
  • Socializing
  • Travel
  • Employment
  • Going back to school
  • Relationships/dating
  • Sexuality
  • Sports and recreation
  • Parenting

I’m honored to be your tour guide and coach through this journey … one that I take quite seriously. For the last 32 years, I have navigated life from a manual wheelchair, the result of a rare stroke that left me paralyzed at the T-7 level in 1985 when I was just 15 years old. For the last 20 years, I have spoken to over 1.5 million people in 38 countries as a motivational speaker and have been a life coach to hundreds globally as well. In addition, I am an Ambassador for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and Kessler Foundation. My wife, two children, and I reside in New Jersey.

Each week I’ll offer Nu Challenges to integrate into your daily lives. If you have any questions or comments or would like to recommend a topic for me to discuss, email me at scott.chesney@numotion.com.

Thank you for your time and commitment to creating A Nu You!
