Overview


This course gives an overview of pressure management for seated individuals. It encompasses the entire spectrum of wound management from the causes of pressure injuries to identifying seating & positioning strategies that reduce the risk of skin breakdown.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to define what causes pressure injuries and be able to identify common sites for pressure injuries.
  2. Participants will be able to identify both extrinsic and intrinsic risk factors that increase the risk for pressure injuries.
  3. Participants will be able to recognize and differentiate the four stages of pressure injuries, as well as to recognize deep tissue injury.
  4. Participants will be able to identify seating & positioning strategies to reduce the risk of pressure injuries and equipment that supports these strategies.
