This presentation will provide an overview of the seating products from Ki Mobility. The foundation will include a review of some of the scientific principles involved in wheelchair cushion design, and then an explanation of how that science was incorporated into the design of the Ki Mobility products. Further discussion will address the features of the cushions that make them ‘best in class’. Design elements common to all the Ki Mobility cushions, as well as distinctive features for each of the cushion codes from E2601 through E2607 will be shown. Finally, this presentation will introduce the newest additions to the Ki Mobility family of seating products, the Axiom backs, and Axiom Custom Seating.
1. Attendees will be able to list at least 3 design elements of the Axiom cushions that are common to all the cushions
2. Attendees will be able to list the three primary design principles addressed by the Axiom cushion line
3. Attendees will be able to explain the relevance of anthropometrics in the design and sizing of wheelchair cushions
About the Speaker
Curt Prewitt is Director of Education for Ki Mobility. He has a BS in Exercise Physiology and an MS in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado.
He practiced as a physical therapist in a number of settings for a few years, most prominently in long term care, where he gained experience with seating and wheeled mobility. He transitioned from a practicing therapist to a manufacturer’s representative, eventually moving into sales management and focusing on complex rehab technology. Throughout his tenure on the manufacturer’s side in the complex rehab arena, he has dealt largely with pediatric positioning and mobility products. He has previously also served as a product trainer/product specialist, teaching product features and clinical application, as well as coordinating continuing education presentations, both credited and non-credited. He has presented educational courses across the US and internationally.
