Learning Objectives

  • Determine client’s transfer and functional abilities in relation to the use of an MSCC
  • Evaluate client’s environment within which the MSCC will be used
  • State key linear / angular body measurements, as well as an assessment of skin health, that are required to recommend an appropriate MSCC and options
  • Identify the appropriate model and components required to achieve postural control and accommodation

About the Speaker

Speaker: Dr. Jessica Presperin Pedersen

Jessica Presperin Pedersen OTD, MBA, OTR/L, ATP/SMS, FAOTA has over 40 years of experience as an OT and expert clinician in SWM. She developed the first wheelchair seating clinic in Illinois and was one of the founders of NRTTS, serving as its first secretary. She has provided therapeutic intervention, consultation for product development, continuing education, and was founding faculty for an MSOT program.  Jessica is a RESNA and AOTA Fellow, serves on the Clinical Task Force, and is active on the SWM Committee for AOTA. She shares her experiences through publications and presentations throughout North America and Europe. Her research involvement focuses on outcome measures and gathering evidence for translation to professionals involved in service delivery and to advocates justifying SWM intervention. Jessica is a clinical consultant and educator for RAZ Designs Inc.
