To ensure safety and competence in powered wheelchair use, new drivers and drivers with changes to their wheelchair configuration or seating require training in powered wheelchair skills. Training is one of the 8 steps of wheelchair provision expected of professionals in the field, therefore it is important they have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide that service. This webinar will focus on developing those skills and providing tools for professionals to use while training their clients in safe and competent wheelchair use.
- Participants will be able to discriminate between cognitive, physical, and social skills used for powered wheelchair driving.
- Participants will be able to discriminate between two training approaches for powered mobility skills.
- Participants will be able to describe three training strategies for powered mobility skills.
- Participants will be able to identify two training resources for powered mobility skills.
