David grew up in Bogalusa, Louisiana with a love for swimming, waterskiing, and boating. On August 24th, 1984, David was about to go back to school and was enjoying being outside with friends. David was doing his usual “daredevil tricks” on a rope swing in his yard when the rope suddenly broke, and he went crashing to the ground. That day, at 15 years old, David suffered a C5 incomplete spinal cord injury.

A Numotion customer for several years, David said this about working with his Numotion Assistive Technology Professional, Jeff Cosentino, “Jeff took all of my measurements, is extremely knowledgeable, and understood exactly what I wanted. When I went to the Slidell location to get my new wheelchair, Jeff went over everything with me and made the necessary adjustments. As a result, my wheelchair fits like a glove."

Living in south Louisiana, David has always loved spending time in the water. Before and after his spinal cord injury. David wanted to be able to waterski again, and he designed and built an adaptive water ski. Over the years, David started to help other people with disabilities learn to waterski. In 2018, David and his friend created a non-profit adaptive waterskiing organization called Ski Dawgs. Ski Dawgs puts on several adaptive waterskiing events each year where people with different levels of ability come out and enjoy being on the water and hanging out with friends.

David's friendliness and generosity lead him to start his non-profit organization. David is now a senior drafter at NASA and his hobbies include studying World War II History, old cars, and adaptive waterskiing.
