Five-year-old Elliott from Raleigh, North Carolina, is full of life, laughter, and a deep love for animals, especially Komodo dragons and snakes. Diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at just 14 months old, Elliott received gene therapy soon after his diagnosis, which became the first step in a journey of strength, independence, and support.

Today, Elliott is a busy kindergartner with two brothers, two pet fish, one energetic dog, and a wide circle of friends. He loves cheering for the Tarheels and is actively involved in sports. He is about to start playing Power Soccer and plays on both basketball and t-ball teams with friends from school. His mom said his energy and enthusiasm are contagious to everyone around him.

Elliott has been a Numotion customer since the beginning of his SMA journey, and his family considers the Numotion team an essential part of his care “village.” While navigating the insurance process and waiting on authorizations can be frustrating, especially when it comes to equipment repairs Elliott’s mom appreciates how available and supportive the Numotion team has been.

“Elliott’s ATP, Blake is the most caring and thoughtful team member,” Elliott’s mom shared. “He has provided Elliott with the right equipment from a stander, wheelchair, gait trainer, SmartDrive, to a treadmill and he’s always quick to repair or replace anything that breaks. He’s been incredibly helpful for a medically complex and evolving diagnosis.”

Though the process of getting new equipment often takes several months due to insurance approvals, Elliott’s family has found comfort in being able to track progress through the myNumotion app. And when service is needed, the response is just as caring as the initial support. “Shout out to Rich, John, and Blake for keeping Elliott moving. They are wonderful, helpful, kind, and caring.”

“Elliott’s life is full and powerful thanks to his medical equipment. He is unable to walk, so the wheelchair is a crucial aspect of his independence,” said Elliott’s mom.
