When Paul Erway knows what he wants, he goes for it full force. Paul accomplished his goals with patience, persistence, and a joyous spirit. In 1980, when Paul was in college, he was in a car accident which caused a C4 through C6 spinal cord injury. Before Paul's injury, his passion was horses, and he was pursuing a career as a horse trainer. After Paul's injury, his career path changed, but his need for speed did not.

After Paul’s injury, he became passionate about wheelchair racing and traveled the world winning races. Paul and two other gentlemen completed 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 weeks. You can read all about it in the book Paul wrote titled 50 Abilities Unlimited Possibilities.

Paul works for a company that adapts vehicles for people with disabilities and interacts with many custom wheelchair providers. "Numotion’s assistive technology professionals are very concerned with the proper fit, comfort, and usability of the wheelchairs they configure for each person’s unique situation,” said Paul. “I cover a three-state area for my job and can stop into any Numotion branch, and they all treat me as their local customer. My last ATP, Robert Meehan, was so helpful, and it’s obvious he cares deeply about his customers.”

Paul learned that Numotion offers lifestyle products too. Through Numotion Paul discovered a TopEnd training rolling. The training roller is like a treadmill for runners, but instead, you push the wheelchair in place. Innovative lifestyle products are also part of what Numotion does well, according to Paul. Then it was time for Paul to order the new racing wheelchair he chose to purchase from Numotion. Paul loves the new racing wheelchair design because of the unique bend in the frame, creating an ergonomic seat slope sitting you lower in the chair, providing better pelvic stability and improved posture through optimal contouring.

“The process for ordering new custom rehabilitation technology, like custom wheelchairs, is complex. Numotion has knowledgeable professionals all over the country that can help navigate the evaluation and insurance verification process,” said Paul. “Inevitably difficulties in the CRT ordering process will arise, but I have always found Numotion employees to be patient and persistent from the evaluation to the delivery."
