Power Seat Elevators

Any child who has a power wheelchair can benefit from a Power Seat Elevator. The technology raises your child’s seat 10- to 14-inches. This allows your child to get eye level and reach heights that give him or her better access to hard-to-reach surfaces.

Like all Complex Rehab Technology, Power-Seat Elevators are individually configured, meaning that your child’s chair will be customized to his or her needs. There are many configurations, including:
  • Width, depth, height and seat angles
  • Specialty and custom seat and back cushions
  • Positioning items like headrests and side and hip supports
  • Sophisticated powered tilt and recline functions
  • Manual and power elevating leg rests and foot platforms
  • Specialty joystick controls
  • Alternative drive controls including foot control, head control and sip-n-puff

Benefits

Functionality Functionality

Downhill Transferring
A Power Seat Elevator allows your child to transfer downhill, putting less stress on their arms and shoulders.

Health Health

Reduces Overuse
By eliminating the need to constantly reach overhead and over-extend his or her arms, hand and head, your child can reduce the risk of overuse injuries.

Lifestyle Lifestyle

Provides More Access
With the ability to move vertically, your child can reach more spaces and gain more freedom to engage in daily life.

Gets Your Child Eye Level
Getting eye-level with friends and family not only helps your child’s neck and back; it also gives him or her empowerment and can improve overall well-being.

Medical Necessity

To get insurance coverage for Complex Rehab Technology, your insurance provider must determine your child has a “medical necessity”. This means your child must have a condition that requires the equipment to prevent, diagnose or treat an illness, injury, condition, disease or its symptoms.

Most insurance providers only offer coverage if your child has a significant impairment that limits him or her from performing daily activities. However, Medicaid will often pay for parts, service and other mobility products and support so your child has more community access.
