Numotion's COVID-19
Response: What you Need to Know

Kevin lives in Louisiana and has been married to his high-school sweetheart, Julie for almost thirty-five years. He and his wife have three children in their twenties. Kevin’s biggest interest has ways been his children, whether he is coaching their youth sports teams or going to dance recitals for his daughter, he loves to support anything his children do.

In June of 2013, on the same day as their wedding anniversary, Kevin was diagnosed with ALS. Kevin has had a wheelchair since 2015 and was working with a different company when he got his first wheelchair. They first heard of Numotion at an ALS clinic and he asked his wife to give Numotion a call.

Eligible for a new chair and frustrated with the previous company he was working with, Kevin’s wife spoke to Robin, Customer Care Coordinator, from our Slidell branch about getting a new chair and the services Numotion provides. Numotion ATP, Jeff, was asked by his local team and Team Gleason to visit Kevin and assess his situation and provide solutions to make him more comfortable before receiving his new chair.

A couple of days later, Jeff visited Kevin’s house where he found that Kevin had spent approximately 130 days in bed because of the pain his current chair was causing. Kevin couldn’t sit in his chair for longer than 30 minutes because of the lack of support from his cushion and chair.

“When I first met Jeff, he proved that Numotion cares about customer service. I was having trouble with my backrest on my chair and Jeff came to my house and gave me a much more comfortable backrest even before we ordered a chair from Numotion. That is caring about your customer service more than the bottom-line service,” said Kevin.

Kevin’s has now been working with Numotion for about a year, “Working with Numotion has been so much better than my previous company. Jeff, Robin, and Johnny have blown me away,” said Kevin.

Team Gleason has also been a major support in Kevin’s mobility journey. Kevin has been a New Orleans Saints fan since he was seven years old, and he knew who Steve Gleason was before he had ALS. “I followed him after his diagnosis not knowing that two and a half years later, I would be diagnosed with the same disease. Steve is a hero and an inspiration,” said Kevin. “Team Gleason has helped me with some wheelchair accessories and with my communication device and most recently, with a small grant to help pay for materials to repair some fence damage from Hurricane Ida.”
