Numotion's COVID-19
Response: What you Need to Know

Kyann was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington. She was diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) when she was eight years old. She then received a second diagnosis of Heredity Spastic Paraplegia at age twenty-four. Kyann is Director of Accessibility for Wandke Consulting and a passionate advocate for the disability community. As a disabled woman, she strives to educate society on how social barriers like ignorance and stereotypes, limit the disability community. Kyann loves to travel, write, and drink coffee.
“At age ten, when I received my first wheelchair, my freedom and independence exponentially increased. For the first time in my life, I felt free to explore on my own. I disappeared, and my parents had no idea where I had gone. I view my wheelchair like a pair of glasses. Just like someone with a correctible visual impairment can wear a pair of glasses to see, I use a wheelchair for mobility," said Kyann.
In September of 2018, Kyann traveled to Boston for an Abilities Expo where she met Karen Roy, Numotion Brand Ambassador, and Ms. Wheelchair America 2019. Kyann was amid a wheelchair parts debacle and shared her story with Karen. Karen portrayed Numotion’s mission by introducing Kyann to Rian Mallari, Director of Sales Operations, who helped resolve the problem.
Kyann wrote an October 2018 Facebook post thanking Numotion, and Karen and Rian, for their help in solving the “Wheelchair Parts Debacle”: “Thank you, Numotion, for everything that you did to help me figure out the mystery of what was going on. A huge thank you to Rian Mallari! You are incredible. I so appreciate everything you did for me, a person you just met and who lives across the US! And, thank you, Karen Roy, for introducing me to Rian and for your persistence on my behalf. You are such a blessing and I am honored to call you a friend! Karen shared the mission of Numotion with me as Improving the lives of people with disabilities by helping them to actively participate in everyday life,” and I believe this is what they strive to do. Even though a mistake was made, people who didn’t even know me stepped in and made it right. And because of this, I will now be rocking my new tires at Miss WA - USA, proudly and safely! Thank you again, Rian and Karen, for representing Numotion’s mission well," said Kyann.
Kyann is grateful for her wheelchair and the many things she can do with the use of it.
“Because of my wheelchair, I am not stuck in bed. Because of my wheelchair, I was able to cross both my high school and college graduation stages when receiving both my diplomas. Because of my wheelchair," said Kyann. "I was able to be crowned the title of Ms. Wheelchair Washington 2017 and place second runner-up at Ms. Wheelchair America 2018. Because of my wheelchair, I was able to run for Miss Washington USA. Because of my wheelchair, I have been able to travel to seven countries and over half of the United States. Because of my wheelchair, I can go to work and be a disability advocate and mentor others every day.”
