Charley’s family used to call themselves a “split family.” Because of her mobility complications, it was easier to divide and conquer. Travis, Charley’s dad, would take the family's son to the park, and Juana, Charley’s mom, would stay home with Charley.

Charley spent most of her days in a stroller, laying on the floor or in someone’s lap and became very familiar with the ceiling and looking at the ground. On the rare occasion Charley would leave the house, her parents would push her in a stroller. Even then, she could only be in it for half an hour before fatigue took over.

When Charley received her wheelchair – a manual Tilt-n-Space by Freedom Designs. She has started hitting developmental milestones and began attending pre-kindergarten; her chair allows her to be safely transported to and from school and interact with her classmates.

“With Charley’s chair, we are now able to go out as a family, which is amazing. And Charley is more independent and much happier being able to join in on the fun. We do not consider any of you just a ‘vendor,’ for us you are all family and we are ever so grateful to have you as a part of our family.” - Juana, Charley’s mom
