Eldon’s mom and caregiver, Patricia, describes him as, “a strong warrior who has fought one thing after another since birth.” Eldon just celebrated his 14th birthday and refuses to let his health stop him from being a very happy and caring kid.

“He has a long list of diagnosis,” said Patricia. “He is on the autism spectrum, has an intellectual disability, asthma, adrenal insufficiency, severe high frequency hearing loss (wears hearing aids), chronic intestinal pseudo obstruction, autonomic dysfunction, blood clots, incontinent, Baraitser-Winter Syndrome, Mitochondrial Disorder and is TPN dependent.”

Despite these health conditions and a number of tubes and lines, Eldon chooses to stay positive and continues to bring joy to everyone around him. “I feel like I am a better person because of him,” said Patricia. “He has taught me what true strength is.”

“As a baby, Eldon’s fine motor skills were delayed, but once he learned how to walk, crawl and roll there was no stopping him,” said Patricia. “When he was about eight he started getting tired easily and his physical abilities have deteriorated since then.”

Patricia turned to Eldon’s PT, Candace, for guidance on what she could do to help Eldon stay mobile. She recommended Numotion and ATP, Danielle. “Eldon was getting tired and weaker so I was using a regular baby stroller to help push him around,” said Patricia. “He was getting too big for that and I knew I needed something better.”

Eldon received his first powerchair in February of this year and loves the newfound mobility. “He took off right away and learned how to maneuver it. He has been in hog heaven ever since,” said Patricia. “He loves it because now he can go where he wants and get things he could not reach before. People have been in awe watching him just go and do things he hasn’t been able to do in so long.  It has given me chills and brought some happy tears to my eyes watching him.”

With the help of his new powerchair, Eldon can now do the things he loves with more independence and freedom. Patricia said, “He loves to play video games, google history and watch documentaries on YouTube. He loves to talk to people about his games and history.”

“We are so grateful for his new chair,” said Patricia. “Danielle has been such an awesome person to work with and is always helpful in providing us the information we need when it comes to Eldon’s chair. We totally love her and she has such a big loving heart. You can sense how much she truly cares.”
