Making Huge Strides:

Tessa’s Story

Diagnosis: Cerebral Palsy
A smiling young girl in a floral dress uses a walker at a playground. Featuring Tessas Story, she wears a flower headband and looks happy and excited, with supportive adults nearby and trees in the background.

Tessa is a twin who loves baby dolls, animals and music. She and her brother were born at 24 weeks and had a long stay in the NICU. Tessa had three brain surgeries because of a brain bleed which resulted in her official diagnosis of cerebral palsy around eighteen months old.

ATP Ronald and Customer Care Coordinator Cami, helped Tessa and her family find the best equipment. Starting with a walker, Cami was very helpful working through the process and helping Tessa’s family pick out the perfect wheelchair for her.

With her new wheelchair, Tessa can sit at a higher level where she can see the world easier.

“Tessa gets very excited when she is in her wheelchair. She likes being higher up and able to reach things. She also loves that her twin brother can help push her and make her go faster in it. We see how she has been able to experience more independence with her wheelchair, and she loves the light-up wheels,”
