Standing Tall & Defying Odds:
Ryder’s Story
Diagnosis: Cerebral Palsy | Numotion Customer Since 2012
Ryder of Gilbert, Arizona, recently graduated from Basha High School and is preparing to attend Arizona State University. Born at just 26 weeks, Ryder has cerebral palsy and a rare congenital muscle myopathy. He uses a power wheelchair for mobility and is passionate about public speaking, encouraging others to never give up on their goals.
A Numotion customer for approximately 14 years, Ryder says his experience with the team has always been positive.
“My experience with Numotion has been very positive,” Ryder shared. “Throughout the years, they have helped me obtain equipment that allows me to live more independently and participate more fully in everyday life.”
He credits his Numotion team for making the process seamless.
“Working with my Numotion team has been incredible. They have always been kind, accommodating, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me receive the equipment

I need. I have always felt supported throughout the process.”
His newest wheelchair has had a life-changing impact, particularly because of its standing function.
“Being able to stand gives me greater independence and allows me to interact with people at eye level, reach things more easily, and participate in activities that would otherwise be difficult,” Ryder said.
Perhaps most importantly, the standing feature has allowed Ryder to share meaningful moments with the people around him.
“The greatest gift it has given me is the ability to stand alongside my family, friends, and peers instead of always looking up at the world from a seated position.”
In addition to supporting his health and well-being, the standing feature has boosted his confidence and independence. It also made one unforgettable moment possible: standing to deliver his high school graduation speech in front of thousands of people.
“That moment would not have been possible without this wheelchair and its standing capability,” Ryder said.
As Ryder begins his next chapter at Arizona State University, he hopes to continue using his experiences to inspire others to overcome challenges, pursue their goals, and defy the odds.
