From Cape Cod to the World Stage
Sean’s Story
Diagnosis: Spinal Cord Injury | Numotion Customer Since: 2022
Sean, a wheelchair curler from Cape Cod, has always had a competitive spirit. Before becoming a wheelchair user, sports were a big part of his life, and that drive to compete never went away.
“I was always looking for something to scratch that competitive itch,” Sean shared, “to regain some of the athletic fun and competition I had before my accident.”
About four years ago, Sean discovered curling at an open house hosted by the Cape Cod Curling Club. What started as a new experience quickly turned into a passion. After connecting with a former Paralympian early on, Sean set his sights high.
“I was like, all right, I’m going to make a go at this, I’ll give it a shot, and here we are,” he said.
Sean dedicated himself to the sport, steadily progressing from learning the basics to competing at an elite level. His hard work paid off when he made Team USA and advanced through the selection process for the Paralympic Games.
“It’s pretty mind-blowing,” he said. “Going from just loving sports and thinking maybe I’d do a marathon someday, to now competing on the international stage at the highest level of my sport, it’s surreal. I still can’t fully wrap my mind around it.”
As Sean’s journey evolved, so did his equipment needs. After more than 15 years without a new chair, he became a Numotion customer two years ago, and the impact was immediate.

“Having the right equipment is everything. If your cushion is flat, it’s like walking around with a broken ankle. Everything is off. So having equipment that works the way you need it to, both on and off the ice, it’s the whole game.”

Sean credits his Numotion team for helping him stay focused on what matters most, competing. From delivering and customizing his chair at home to quickly addressing repairs and adjustments, their support has been consistent and reliable.
“They’ve been incredibly responsive and flexible,” he said. “Whether it’s cushions, brakes, or just standard wear and tear, they work with me, especially when I’m traveling for curling. They make it easy.”
Sean represented Team USA at the 2026 Paralympics in Milano Cortina as part of the wheelchair mixed curling team, competing on one of the sport’s biggest stages. With the support of his Numotion team, he’s been able to maintain the equipment and daily independence he needs to focus on training and competing at the highest level.
