David’s Story

Diagnosis: Cerebral Palsy | Numotion Customer Since 2011

For David of Meridian, Idaho, technology and connection play an important role in his everyday life. Living with cerebral palsy, he has worked with Numotion since 2011 to ensure he has the equipment that keeps him mobile, independent, and active in his community.

From his first interactions to today, David’s experience with Numotion has been overwhelmingly positive. “Technicians and service people have been courteous, professional, and prompt in providing remarkable service to make sure that my equipment is up and running and safe to operate,” David explained.

After moving from Southern California to Idaho in 2019, David continued to receive the same high level of care from his local Numotion team.

“Much of my experience with the local office here in Idaho has been top-notch,” he shared. “Everyone is courteous, professional, and accommodating to my needs and making sure that I get quality equipment and proper resources.”

In July 2024, David began the process of getting his new Permobil M3 power wheelchair and received it just a few months later in October.

“Having owned wheelchairs and other specialized equipment long enough, I know that every six years you qualify for newer equipment,” he said. “I didn’t think I was going to be able to qualify for the Permobil M3 that I currently have, but based upon everybody on my team, we were able to get the process concluded fairly quickly.”

When his chair first arrived, there were a few small issues that were quickly resolved. “Upon initial delivery, my Permobil M3 had a faulty R-Net cable, which we were able to swap out fairly quickly, covered under warranty. I also had a drive motor that was underperforming, so we got that replaced shortly after delivery. Since that time, I’ve been able to use the equipment on a daily basis with almost no issues. The equipment is extremely reliable and helps bolster my confidence out in the community, and it’s also a joy to operate.”

His new wheelchair has made daily life easier and more efficient. “Many of the seat functions come standard on the Permobil M3 platform. In the context of enhancing my life, it has definitely made everyday tasks easier and more efficient.” David also enjoys how it has become a conversation starter in his community. “People in my local community ask me almost every day what kind of chair I have and what kind of equipment it offers.”

For David, the technicians who help maintain his equipment are a big part of what makes his experience so positive. “Service technicians at Numotion are the unsung heroes of the entire company. They often travel long distances and work long hours with very little to no recognition for the countless hours they provide to customers and to staff members as a whole.”

Over the years, David has developed strong relationships with several of those technicians.

“Many times, they come to my place of business or my home and simply do the work there on site. By having them come to my home, I was able to watch what they were doing and also learn about what they were doing so that I was familiar with this maintenance being provided, and how to self-diagnose in the future so that my conversations were timely and informed.”
