Finding Confidence in Every Step:

Madilynn’s Story

Diagnosis: Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 5 | Numotion Customer Since 2020
A young girl with blonde hair and bangs, wearing a white shirt, pink tutu, and pink shoes, smiles while using a pink walker outside a building with brown bricks and decorated windows—this is Madilynns Story.

Eight-year-old Madilynn is full of energy and joy. She loves to dance, swim, play soccer, and tumble through gymnastics. At school, you can usually find her on the playground with friends, and at home she is just as lively, often rough housing with her brother. Extremely social and happiest when surrounded by family and friends, Madilynn is also a huge Disney Princess fan who proudly calls herself a “pink and sparkly girl.”

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Madilynn was diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 5 at the age of three, a condition that presents with many symptoms similar to Cerebral Palsy. She has been a Numotion customer since 2020, and in December 2023 her family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado to be closer to nature and new adventures. Since then, they describe their experience with the Grand Junction Numotion service team as nothing short of amazing.

One of their first needs after the move was ordering a larger Crocodile walker. The process was simple and stress-free. Numotion team member Ryan met Madilynn right after a physical therapy appointment to complete the fitting.

At first, she wasn’t too excited about getting a new walker. But when Ryan asked if she would like it better in pink, her eyes lit up. “Well yeah!” she said without hesitation. Six weeks later, her brand-new, bright pink walker was ready.

The family describes the process as easy and convenient from start to finish. Ryan scheduled a time that worked well for them, while the PT office helped coordinate both the fitting and delivery. When the family later had a question, the clinic reached out to Ryan and got a quick call back with the answer.

Today, “Madilynn’s walker is an extension of her,” remarks Madilynn’s mom. She uses it every single day both indoors and outdoors. It allows her to run with friends, skip with her brother, and stay as independent as possible with her diagnosis. Travel can sometimes bring challenges, but Madilynn always finds a way to adapt.

“As soon as she realized she could be really fast with her current walker, she would not stop running. I have had many times I have had to run after her to catch up.”

Her bright pink walker has given her more than mobility. It has given her freedom to play, explore, and keep pace with the people she loves most.
