Numotion / Ryan’s Story

Small Changes for a Big Impact

Ryan: Numotion Assistive Technology Professional Since 2008

Ryan began his career at Numotion in March 2008. Before joining, he spent several years as an auto mechanic. Ready for a change, he took a job with a home healthcare company in their rehab department. However, when that department began to divide, Ryan looked for other opportunities but knew he wanted to stay in rehab.

Three people are smiling in a bright physical therapy room. At the center of Ryan’s Story, a boy in a wheelchair is flanked by a bearded man and a woman. Therapy equipment and exercise balls fill the background.

That’s when he found Numotion.

He started as a service technician and gradually moved into a role where he could focus on helping customers gain independence.

“Numotion only made sense,” Ryan recalled when thinking about why he chose the company. There were a few “other competitors, but Numotion was the king, and that was who I wanted to work for.”

Although his role involves equipment and supplies, Ryan does not consider himself a sales rep.

“I really don’t consider myself a sales rep. I help people for a living and get paid to do it,”

Ryan

Ryan has many memorable customers, but one of the most inspiring is Alexis, who lives with muscular dystrophy. She is a champion goat shower and breeder, and she doesn’t let anything get in her way.

Ryan has supported her for years, even meeting her at the county fair to make adjustments to her equipment.

Another story that shows Ryan’s dedication is his work with eight-year-old Madilynn. She needed a gait trainer that only came in black or orange, but he knew that she really wanted pink. Ryan offered to paint it for her, something he does occasionally if he can.

“Something as small as the color can change the way our clients see their equipment and decide whether or not to use it,” Ryan explained. Madilynn has embraced her new gait trainer, and he noted, “She’s been running with it, and that means she’s gained a ton of independence.”

For Ryan, moments like these—seeing smiles, creating independence, and improving lives by helping people live more fully—are what make his role at Numotion so rewarding.
