Numotion / Blake’s Story

Driven to Make a Difference

Blake: Assistive Technology Professional Since 2015

Blake began his career at Numotion in August 2015 as a seating tech in training in Colorado Springs. With a bachelor’s in Exercise Science and plans to pursue physical therapy, he was unsure of his next steps until a visit with his uncle, a Permobil rep, opened his eyes to the world of mobility solutions.

“Numotion stood out because of the resources and education they offer. It felt like the perfect way to start a meaningful career without more school debt,” Blake said. “I became an ATP to help others gain independence in their daily lives.”

A family of four poses indoors; a man stands behind two young boys, one standing and one sitting in a wheelchair, while a woman kneels beside them. They all smile warmly at the camera in their home, capturing a moment from Blakes Story.

For Blake, the best part of the job is simple: making a difference.

“It’s not the paperwork! It’s interacting with skilled clinicians and customers and helping improve people’s lives and independence. We work with such a wide variety of individuals.
Not every experience is easy, but the ones that are make it all worth it.”

One of his most memorable customers is Elliott, a young boy with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Blake had developed a strong relationship with Elliott’s home therapist, built on years of trust and problem-solving. That rapport made it possible to get creative with Elliott’s mobility needs from wheelchairs and mobile standers to making walkers compatible with treadmills.

Blake helped get Elliott a SmartDrive power assist for his manual wheelchair or, as Elliott calls it, his “jetpack.” Giving him the freedom to play with friends, participate in T-ball, and just be a kid.

“This has opened his world. He’s out playing in the streets with his neighborhood friends, rounding bases on his T-ball team, always with the biggest smile on his face,” Blake shared. “It’s those moments that make everything worth it.”
